Educational seminars on the Federal National Council Elections 2015 kicks off in Dubai on Thursday
Dubai will host the second phase of the educational seminars organised by the National Election Committee on the Federal National Council Elections 2015 with the goal of raising awareness among the members of the Electoral College about various aspects of the electoral process.
NEC will organize two educational seminars in Dubai on Thursday, August 13. The first will be will be presented by His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of the Election Management Committee, at the Dubai Police Officers Club. The second will be held at the Public Library Auditorium in Hatta and presented by Dr. Ahmed Yousef Al-Mansouri, Professor of Public International Law.
The seminars in Dubai follow the first phase of seminars held successfully in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi events were led by Dr Saeed Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for FNC Affairs on Aug. 9 at the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Auditorium at Zayed University; by Dr Ahmed Al Khozaimi on Aug. 10 at the Al Ain Municipality Auditorium; and by Dr. Mohammed Butti Al Shamsi at the Baynounah Institute of Science and Technology in Madinat Zayed on Aug. 11.
The educational seminars in Abu Dhabi presented a comprehensive explanation of the importance of political participation by the members of Electoral College as a tool that contributes to taking responsibility and decision-making, and as a means of education and raising awareness within the community. The seminars highlighted the most prominent features of political participation in the UAE.
The seminars also discussed the tasks and functions of the Federal National Council, and its important role in representing the voice of the UAE, and expressing its ambitions and aspirations by discussing various issues and concern of citizens related to their lives as well as about the future needs of the nation.
The legal and regulatory aspects such as the rights of voters, conditions of candidacy, election campaigns, duties of the candidate, election schedule, and other matters related to the electoral process were explained to the participants.
The speakers stressed the importance of the upcoming elections as a new phase of empowering the Federal National Council as well as the importance of the elections, the positive effect of participation and its impact on the process of development and modernization of the UAE.
The seminars on the Federal National Council Elections 2015 are being held in all the emirates from August 9 to 19 to raise awareness among the members of the Electoral College on the regulatory and legal aspects of the election, which will be on October 3.
