Dubai launches global blueprint for artificial intelligence

Dubai, May 1, 2024 (The Gulf Times) - Dubai has launched an ambitious blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (AI), aiming to harness the technology's potential to enhance the quality of life globally. The comprehensive plan encompasses various initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, education, and economic growth through AI integration.

At the core of the plan is the appointment of a CEO for AI in each government entity, signaling a concerted effort to prioritize AI implementation across all sectors. This move will be complemented by the establishment of an AI and WEB3 Incubator, poised to evolve into the largest global hub for AI and technology companies. The hub aims to attract innovators, startups, and AI leaders worldwide, providing them with the necessary support to develop their ideas into successful enterprises or real-world applications.

Education is also a key focus area, with the introduction of AI Week in schools and colleges aimed at integrating AI applications into the educational system. This initiative seeks to equip students with essential skills such as coding and familiarize them with the latest tools and best practices in AI.

Furthermore, the blueprint includes the launch of the Dubai Commercial License for Artificial Intelligence, designed to attract specialized companies and individuals to Dubai, stimulate investments, and reinforce the city's position as a preferred business destination for technology and innovation companies. As part of this initiative, land will be allocated for data centers, contributing to the development of world-class infrastructure to support Dubai's digital transformation journey.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the significance of Dubai's digital transformation journey, which began in 1999 and has culminated in milestones such as the Dubai Digital Strategy unveiled last year. His Highness highlighted Dubai's stature as a premier hub for billion-dollar global enterprises in the technology and AI sectors within the region.

Commenting on the rapid evolution of AI, His Highness stressed the importance of adaptive action plans to keep pace with technological advancements. Dubai's annual plan for accelerating AI adoption across all sectors aligns with the city's ambition to become a global leader in technology utilization and the fastest adopter of advanced applications.

Dubai's commitment to advancing AI underscores its dedication to innovation and its vision to create a future-ready and technologically advanced society, positioning the city as a beacon of progress on the global stage.
