Dubai Customs launches new smart watch services

Dubai Customs has announced the launch of new smart watch services, as part of its participation in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2014. In line with its objective to integrate new technology in customs systems and processes in order to step up service delivery, Dubai Customs introduced the visitors of GITEX with its new array of smart watch services. Easily accessible and highly user-friendly, the staff at DC stand took all the time needed to illustrate such innovative service introductions.

Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs development Division at Dubai Customs, said Delivering services through a smart watch platform is in response to the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the worlds smartest city within 3 years, by taking services quality and delivery channels to a new height. This coincided with Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoums launch of a government work system designed to lay the foundation stone for creating a smart government in all Dubai Government departments and institutions, emphasising the integration of roles and plans between the federal and local governments.

Juma Al Ghaith noted that Dubai Customs is offering 15 smart watch services, including: Request for Client Registration Inquiry, Request for Trade Agency Registration, Trademark Registration, Request for Customs Opinion, Request for Appeal, Request for Goods Classification, Request for Reconciliation, Request for Guarantees / Deposits Claims and Refunds, Request for Customs License, Request for Certificate, Request for Report, Request for Awareness and Training, Submit Complaints, Suggestions and Enquiries, Contact Director General, and Submit RAFED Information.
Dubai Customs smart watch delivered services include Applications Progress Inquiry Service, Customs Declaration Progress Inquiry, Inspection Request Inquiry, Refund Application Progress Inquiry and Registration Application Progress Inquiry.
Al Ghaith further remarked that: With this new breakthrough, all of DC clients services are now catered online via smart watches. This advancement is geared to meet Dubai Smart Governments strategy as our approach is to provide a multi-channel service delivery.
The move is a reflection of the DC keenness to be at the lead in initiating innovative platforms that would give real momentum to service delivery in the emirate of Dubai. Dubai Customs is merely pursuing its course of leadership and excellence; in fact, Dubai Customs had set the bar high for other government departments when it became the first fully electronically transformed government entity in 2009, and then the first fully smart one in 2013.

Dubai Customs never spares any effort to seek further innovation in the field of customer service, Al Ghaith said, highlighting the flagship launching of the new version of DC smart watch-enabled website which provides more flexible and easy access to the needed services.
Dubai Customs takes part in GITEX 2014, under the umbrella of Dubai Smart Government pavilion.
