DEWA participates in energy and water rationalisation campaigns at Winter Awareness Camp

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has taken part in a Winter Awareness Camp organised in February by the Directorate General of Civil Defence in Dubai, in Al Warqa'a, as part of its strategy to support community initiatives, humanitarian activities, spread awareness on rationalising the use of energy and water, and to promote environmental conservation across different communities. The camp aimed to strengthen awareness of nature, and to promote awareness on environmental conservation within the community.

Our participation in the camp is in line with DEWAs strategic plan to strengthen awareness among the community on the importance of energy consumption by explaining how we can contribute to protecting our resources and build a sustainable future for generations to come, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

To achieve sustainable development, it is essential to manage our natural resources responsibly, and adopt environmentally-friendly techniques that also enhance efficiency in the energy sector. Therefore, it is important to strengthen awareness on the importance of conserving energy and water and improving efficiency, based on global best practices that lead to tangible improvements, added Al Tayer.

In the framework of the plan adopted by DEWA to ensure a sustainable future for our coming generations, we participated in the Winter Awareness Camp to further support sustainable development as part of our corporate social responsibility, and to promote the rational use of electricity and water through various methods, said Amal Koshak, Senior Manager of Marketing Communications at DEWA.

This programme reaches out to both children and adults. It is important to educate children from an early age on the importance of energy-efficient consumption, as this awareness and eventual behaviour will become part of their lifestyle even as adults, and positively impact their contribution to society, both now and in the future, added Koshak.

The awareness initiatives are complemented by the outreach of DEWAs partners: OSRAM to promote the use of high-efficiency light bulbs to rationalise energy consumption and Green Mat to raise awareness of water-saving agricultural practices.
