DEWA hosts students from London Business School Energy Club

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a group of 25 MBA students from London Business Schools (LBSs) Energy Club at DEWAs Sustainable Building in Al Quoz. One of the most active student-led clubs on the London campus, the Energy Club aims to develop strong ties between LBS and energy companies, regulators and other players in the energy sector. They were in the Emirates as part of an energy-focused company and career visit to enhance the students understanding of the energy sector in the Middle East and also learn about career opportunities in the region. DEWA welcomed the visit in support of its corporate social responsibility and its commitment to achieve Dubais vision for sustainable development.

Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, welcomed the students at the Sustainable Building and gave them an overview of DEWAs facilities, operations, and developmental projects. Bader Al Qemzi briefed the delegation on DEWAs Sustainable Building in Al Quoz and took them for a tour of the facility. Stephane LeGentil, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Energy Service Company (Etihad ESCO), and Ivano Iannelli, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, explained about the scope and activities of the two organisations. The students were also briefed on DEWAs vision to drive Dubais sustainable development and focus on strengthening energy sector efficiencies in line with the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030.

DEWA presented its ongoing and future projects, which also focus on preserving natural resources, protecting the environment, minimising carbon emissions, and innovating sustainable solutions for global warming and climate change issues, in line with DEWAs commitment to support developmental and social initiatives, and contribute to the social, environmental and economic development of Dubai. Hosting the delegation also complemented DEWAs strategy to enhance youth skills and support talent, while sharing knowledge and expertise.

In addition to the delegations visit to the Al Quoz branch, the students also visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and Baslan Erekat provided an overview on the Solar Park.

The students expressed their admiration of DEWAs management, operations and services, and praised its initiatives in conservation, protecting the environment and supporting sustainable development.

DEWA continually hosts students from schools and universities, and provides scholarships for UAE Nationals to prepare them scientifically and professionally for work and future challenges.
