DED-Ajman Organizes VAT Awareness Campaign

The Department of Economic Development - Ajman (DED-Ajman) organized an awareness campaign for outlets headed by H.E. Ali Eissa Al Nuaimi, Director General, DED-Ajman; H.E. Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, Assistant Director General for Economic Registration and Control; and severalnofficials from DED-Ajman. The initiative aims to enhance the recognition of commercial enterprises about the application of value-added tax obligation (VAT) in accordance with the law, and to stop unfavorable exploitation by raising prices without justification.

DED-Ajman officials also met with a variety of consumers to ensure their understanding of their rights and a number of investors to develop reliable communication with the owners of industrial establishments and to discover their needs and facilitate their job by updating DED services provided them.

Al Nuaimi emphasized on DED's eagerness to perform a series of awareness and inspection campaigns on value-added tax obligation to secure customers' consumers rights, as it is DED's concern to create a fair intake and investment environment that sustains the stability of the national economy. He added that the division is renewing its commitment by organizing market inspection campaigns and retail outlets in different areas of the emirate by implementing federal and local laws and regulations and taking the required procedures to fight commercial fraud in order to achieve the highest degree of competition and leadership on the regional and global financial map.

H.E. Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Nuaimi said: "Routine field check outs intend to educate customers and ensure the dedication of the concerned parties to accomplish financial activities according to the legislations in force by UAE. We have an obligation to regulate the markets and to make sure the prices and safety and security of products supplied in the outlets and shopping mall, in order to enhance consumer security and safeguard consumer rights as a strategic priority for us.
