Canon, a world leader in imaging solutions, will be the Sustainability Partner for the 15th edition of The Hotel Show. During the exhibition, Canon will showcase IT best practices for the hospitality sector through hands-on demos of eco-friendly and cost—efficient products such as copiers, security cameras, projectors and more.
The Hotel Show, running from the 28th to 30th of September, will present a full 360 view of the hotel and hospitality industry from the ground up. Focused sectors include leisure, hotel careers, interior design, operating equipment, investments, franchises and sustainability. This year, as the Sustainability Partner, Canon will highlight how hotels can invest in products and solutions that will improve their carbon footprint while providing document security, outputs workflows and cost-efficient printing services.
During the event, Canon will participate in The Vision Conference on Monday, the 29th of September. The Vision Conference, now in its second year, brings together international experts to discuss hospitality hot topics such as Expo2020, regulatory compliance, talent management and building for the future. Shadi Bakhour, General Manager for Canon Emirates, will contribute to the panel discussion ‘Sustainable hotel – is it possible?’ and explain how Managed Print Systems (MPS) customized towards the needs of the hospitality sector can play a role in achieving both short-term and long-term sustainability goals.
Shadi Bakhour, Canon Emirates General Manager, said: “At Canon, we recognize that the way people access data nowadays has changed. The MPS solutions we provide can proactively ensure that a hotel’s printer fleet is managed to be profitable and flexible while reducing overall carbon footprint. Partnering with The Hotel Show in Dubai allows us to highlight the benefits of our products in a way that is tangible and customized to suit the needs and targets of the hospitality sector.
“Canon implements the philosophy of Kyosei, which encourages our employees and partners to live and work together for the common good, into every aspect of our business. We aim to grow our business responsibly and we believe that a sustainable organization integrates the interests of society with consideration for the environment.”
Christine Davidson, Event Director says: "The Hotel Show Dubai is the focus for the region’s hospitality sector and its pivotal position each year reveals the key trends in the global and regional industry. This year, sustainability is very much a hot topic as hotels aim to meet many new ‘green’ laws and legislation. This has a significant impact on design and architecture, not to mention hotel operations. To have a renowned imaging company such as Canon involved as the Sustainability Partner with dedicated solutions for the industry emphasizes that ‘sustainability’ is not just a passing trend: It represents a real opportunity to improve building performance and quality of life.”
Canon is committed to producing innovative, eco-friendly products that are customer focused to meet business needs. For the first time, Canon will launch in October 2014 a new A4 compact series in the color copier range for the hospitality sector. The iR Adv C250/350 series will offer significantly lower running costs while providing high security and productivity benefits. The machine can fit well into the space limitations of a hotel without compromising on user authentication, security, solutions integration or productivity. Another copier model, the Adv C5240i, is one of the key offerings of Canon’s MPS solutions for the hotel industry and combines cost control, excellent productivity and security benefits for an integrated printing system.
Other eco-friendly products that will be available at the Canon stand, located in Hall #8 at the Technology Pavilion, include: IP-Cameras, the XEED Projector, and calculators. The IP-Cameras, which integrate Video Management Software from Milestone Technologies, can be controlled from remote locations to eliminate the need for transportation to sites and manpower. Furthermore, the XEED Projector offers exceptional energy efficiency with ECO mode through an increased lamp life and low power consumption on standby mode. Lastly, the calculator on display at The Hotel Show is manufactured from recycled material retrieved from Canon laser machines and cameras and built to run on an extended solar panel capability rather than battery.
As part of its Kyosei mission, Canon strives to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the Canon Group at all stages of production lifecycle, from materials procurement to disposal and recycling. The company was the first to acquire certification under Japan’s Carbon Footprint Program for multifunction office systems. Canon continues to invest heavily in sustainable best practices and was recertified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard.
Canon serves as an active partner in the communities it operates in, by working with governments, scientific, academic, humanitarian, and arts and culture organisations, to integrate corporate social responsibility and sustainability across all elements of the business.
