This year, sustainability is very much a hot topic as hotels aim to meet many new green laws and legislation. This has a significant impact on design and architecture, not to mention hotel operations. To have a renowned imaging company such as Canon involved as the Sustainability Partner with dedicated solutions for the industry emphasizes that sustainability is not just a passing trend: It represents a real opportunity to improve building performance and quality of life.

Canon is committed to producing innovative, eco-friendly products that are customer focused to meet business needs. For the first time, Canon will launch in October 2014 a new A4 compact series in the color copier range for the hospitality sector. The iR Adv C250/350 series will offer significantly lower running costs while providing high security and productivity benefits. The machine can fit well into the space limitations of a hotel without compromising on user authentication, security, solutions integration or productivity. Another copier model, the Adv C5240i, is one of the key offerings of Canons MPS solutions for the hotel industry and combines cost control, excellent productivity and security benefits for an integrated printing system.

Other eco-friendly products that will be available at the Canon stand, located in Hall #8 at the Technology Pavilion, include: IP-Cameras, the XEED Projector, and calculators. The IP-Cameras, which integrate Video Management Software from Milestone Technologies, can be controlled from remote locations to eliminate the need for transportation to sites and manpower. Furthermore, the XEED Projector offers exceptional energy efficiency with ECO mode through an increased lamp life and low power consumption on standby mode. Lastly, the calculator on display at The Hotel Show is manufactured from recycled material retrieved from Canon laser machines and cameras and built to run on an extended solar panel capability rather than battery.

As part of its Kyosei mission, Canon strives to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the Canon Group at all stages of production lifecycle, from materials procurement to disposal and recycling. The company was the first to acquire certification under Japans Carbon Footprint Program for multifunction office systems. Canon continues to invest heavily in sustainable best practices and was recertified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard.
