Bentley Systems and Topcon Positioning Systems are launching their Digital Construction Works joint venture to close the construction development gap.

Bentley Systems, a leading global provider of comprehensive software and digital dual cloud services to improve the design, construction and operation of infrastructure, and Topcon Positioning Systems, a world leader in technology for the survey and construction industries, Today its new, jointly-owned company, Digital Construction Works, is open for business, with a full global staff of digital construction professionals contributed by Bentley Systems and Topcon, respectively. Digital construction work enables digital automation, integration and twinning services to be realized in the construction industry by leveraging a portfolio of purpose-built software and cloud services from Topcon, Bentley and other software vendors.

Bentley Systems and Topcon joined in 2016 to jointly develop advanced integration between their respective Magnet and project-wise cloud services so that they can integrate engineering and construction workflows for improved project quality and efficiency. Since then, Bentley and Topcon have consistently introduced new "4D" innovations in surveying, reality modeling, planning and logistics, task packaging, machine control and progressive assurance. In 2017, they opened construction academies globally, including Topcon's "sandbox" facilities, to enable construction professionals to experience new digital best practices, first. In 2018, the companies merged Bentley's Synchro and Topcon's ClearEdge 3D acquisitions into construction offerings.

Now, Digital Construction Works has been commissioned to embed its expertise into key project teams of architects to improve and improve the construction process to deliver better design-build results. Through its digital integration services, Digital Construction Works can optimize the best projects to integrate and automate the builder's current processes, while also helping to institutionalize these digital workflows across a constructor's entire project portfolio.
