Bahrain Surf Park reaches major construction milestone as lagoon filling is completed

Club Hawaii @ Bahrain Surf Park has reached a major construction milestone with the completion of lagoon filling, bringing the first-of-its-kind surf and leisure destination at Bilaj Al Jazayer closer to its scheduled opening later this year.

The 52,000-square-metre destination is set to combine surfing, family entertainment, wellness, dining, retail, events and social spaces as part of Bahrain's growing leisure and tourism offering.

Surf park to generate up to 1,000 waves an hour

The surf park will use Wavegarden Cove technology and is expected to generate up to 1,000 waves per hour, accommodating nearly 90 surfers per hour.

The facility will cater to both beginners and experienced surfers, with sessions designed to make surfing accessible to different skill levels.

Beyond the main lagoon, Club Hawaii @ Bahrain Surf Park will feature the Club Hawaii Surf Academy, swimming pools, cabanas, dining outlets, retail spaces, event areas and family-oriented attractions.

Victoria Williams, General Manager of Club Hawaii @ Bahrain Surf Park, said completing the lagoon was an important moment for the project and brought the destination closer to welcoming residents and visitors.

She said the project had been shaped to make surfing more accessible while creating a leisure destination focused on wellbeing, community and connection.

Part of wider Bilaj Al Jazayer development

Club Hawaii @ Bahrain Surf Park will be the first leisure and entertainment offering within the wider Bilaj Al Jazayer development.

The 1.3 million-square-metre coastal development on Bahrain's southwest coast is being led by Edamah, the real estate arm of Mumtalakat Holding Company, in collaboration with GFH Financial Group.

The surf park is expected to contribute to the transformation of Bilaj Al Jazayer into a major coastal destination while expanding Bahrain's tourism and recreational offering.

The project also forms part of Bahrain's wider efforts to diversify visitor attractions and create new spaces for recreation, wellness and community activities.
