Avinash Kanti Teelock Appointed Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority
The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has officially appointed Avinash Kanti Teelock as its new Director, effective from 30 May 2025. With more than a decade of experience in the tourism and hospitality sectors, Mr. Teelock is expected to bring strategic foresight and dynamic leadership to further advance Mauritius’s global tourism profile.
Mr. Teelock’s career spans senior roles at some of Mauritius’s most renowned hospitality brands. Most recently, he served as Key Account Manager at Attitude Hotels from 2017 to 2023, where he played a pivotal role in international partnerships and market-specific sales strategies. His tenure at Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa as Cluster Sales Executive further strengthened his expertise in luxury hospitality and MICE tourism. He began his journey in the industry as a Sales and Marketing Executive at Beachcomber Hotels, where he developed an in-depth understanding of guest engagement and brand development.
A graduate of the University of Manchester, Mr. Teelock holds a Bachelor's degree in Modern Language, Business, and Management (Chinese). He is proficient in English and French, and also has advanced Mandarin language skills, allowing him to connect effectively with key Asian markets—an asset to Mauritius’s efforts to diversify its tourism outreach.
Upon his appointment, Mr. Teelock stated:

As Director of the MTPA, Mr. Teelock will focus on strengthening Mauritius’s positioning as a premier island destination, with priorities including sustainability, digital transformation, and market diversification. His leadership is expected to help align Mauritius’s tourism strategy with emerging global trends and evolving traveller expectations.
This appointment marks a significant step toward reinforcing Mauritius’s presence on the world tourism map and ensuring long-term growth for one of the country’s most vital economic sectors.
