Addleshaw Goddard Strengthens Middle East Practice with Strategic Partner Promotions in UAE and Saudi Arabia

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has announced the promotion of two senior lawyers, Philip Chalmers and Jasem Alanizy, to Partners in the Middle East, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to regional expansion and deepening its capabilities in Banking & Finance and Corporate Finance across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

These appointments align with Addleshaw Goddard’s strategic focus on delivering market-leading legal expertise and enhancing its offering across key growth sectors in the GCC.

Meet the New Partners:

Philip Chalmers, now Partner in the Finance and Restructuring practice, has been a key player in the UAE since transferring from the firm's Edinburgh office in 2018. His extensive experience covers conventional and Islamic finance, including:

  • Multi-creditor debt restructurings

  • Acquisition and real estate financing

  • Funds, finance,e and sovereign wealth advisory

His portfolio includes prominent mandates such as the in-court restructuring of KBBO Group and TA’s acquisition of a majority stake in Alephya Education.

Jasem Alanizy, based in Saudi Arabia, has also been promoted to Partner in the Corporate Finance practice. With a robust background in cross-border M&A, joint ventures, and private equity, Jasem has led key transactions in the Kingdom, including:

  • The acquisition of Kudu Food Company

  • Bindawood Holding’s acquisition of Zahrat Al Rawdah Pharmacies from Julphar

His international experience, gained in both London and Dubai, strengthens the firm’s Saudi platform.
