30 GEMS Students win Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence

Dubai, UAE- April 23, 2014: Thirty GEMS students, two GEMS teachers and a family from Our Own English High School, Dubai were honoured at the 16th Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance ceremony last night. This is the largest number of GEMS students ever to receive the award, which recognizes academic achievement, talent, skills and leadership ability across a variety of disciplines.

The students recognized were from GEMS Our Own English High School; Dubai, Our Own English High School, Sharjah; The Millennium School, Dubai; Our Own English High School, Abu Dhabi; and GEMS Winchester School, Abu Dhabi. The teachers recognized were from GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail and The Winchester School, Dubai.

The Muzammil family from Our Own English High School, Dubai won the Sheikh Hamdan Distinguished Family award, after all three daughters of the family were recognized with the award for Academic Excellence.

Four GEMS Students from Our Own English High School, Dubai and Our Own English High School, Abu Dhabi will also receive the Sharjah Educational Award for Outstanding Performance during the ceremony on Thursday morning.
Margaret Atack, Global Director Education at GEMS Education congratulated the student and staff for these recognitions. We are very proud that such a large number of GEMS students and teachers have received the award this year. We are always delighted to see the accomplishments of our students and staff being recognized, and these awards are particularly noteworthy due to the prestige and esteem they confer on recipients, not just in the UAE but across the wider region. The GEMS award winners reflect the capability and ambition of this dynamic and aspirational country.
