According to the UAE’s International Astronomy Center, Muslim countries will observe the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon on May 17, 2026. Since the crescent is expected to be visible in several parts of the Islamic world — including with the naked eye in Abu Dhabi, Mecca, Cairo, and Rabat — astronomers expect Monday, May 18, to mark the start of Dhul Hijjah, making Wednesday, May 27, the likely first day of Eid Al Adha in most Islamic countries. The centre added that visibility conditions depend on factors such as moon age, altitude, and atmospheric clarity.
