Sharjah Police have launched an interactive cybersecurity platform called “Be Aware – Stop, Think, Protect” to help residents identify and avoid online scams that increasingly impersonate government and consumer-protection services. The platform offers practical tools, virtual learning modules, and interactive stations—including a special children’s section—to teach people how to verify websites, avoid sharing OTPs or PINs, recognise suspicious apps, and report fraud through official channels like Haris, the police app, or dedicated hotlines. Authorities highlighted five major scams affecting residents: fake consumer-protection websites, remote-access app fraud, social-media prize/refund traps, phantom property or car listings, and bogus complaint-resolution services. With investigations showing many of these operations originate abroad, the new system aims to strengthen communication between the community and law enforcement while boosting digital awareness through workshops across Sharjah.
