The UAE’s Al Khatm Astronomical Observatory monitored the predicted impact of a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper-stage rocket on the Moon after it had drifted in space since a 2025 lunar mission. Although scientists expected the collision could produce a visible flash or eject lunar dust and rocks, the observatory did not detect any impact flash or visible material, likely due to challenging daylight conditions and the event occurring near the Moon’s edge. The impact remains scientifically significant as researchers worldwide analyze observations to better understand lunar impact events and the behaviour of space debris. What are your views?
