Couples can now complete most of their UAE marriage contract application online through the Ministry of Justice’s Electronic Marriage Contracts System by logging in with UAE Pass, selecting the application type, entering the bride, groom and witness details, uploading the required documents and paying the applicable fee. The application is reviewed by a marriage officiant and then a reviewer before being submitted to a judge for approval, after which the digital marriage contract is emailed to both spouses. Required documents generally include Emirates IDs and a medical examination report, while Muslim applicants also need witness identification and supporting documents. Non-Muslim applicants may additionally need a no-objection certificate from their embassy, medical examination and genetic screening certificates. For civil marriage, both parties must be at least 21, legally capable of marrying and not already married, among other conditions. Would you prefer completing your marriage contract entirely online, or do you think an in-person process is still more convenient and reassuring?
