Strings & Dreams: Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninoff
A classical music concert celebrating the works of Russian composers Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff will take place at Dubai Opera on Sunday evening as part of the Strings & Dreams – Virtuoso Sunday Series. Titled “Strings & Dreams: Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninoff,” the performance will be delivered by the Baldaquin Ensemble, a professional string quartet, and will begin at 6:00pm. Ticket prices range from AED 450 to AED 750 depending on seating category. The programme opens with selections from Rachmaninoff, including excerpts from his unfinished string quartets and the well-known piece Vocalise. The second half shifts focus to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated ballet music, featuring suites from Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, followed by his String Quartet No. 1 in D major. Organisers said the evening will combine music with visual art, with a display and sale of works by Dubai-based artist Alena Lavdovskaya, whose pieces are inspired by the concert series.
