Dubai to Launch World’s First Commercial Flying Taxi Service by 2026

Dubai is poised to become the first city globally to introduce a commercial flying taxi service, with operations expected to begin as early as 2026. This milestone in urban air mobility follows successful full-scale test flights conducted by US-based Joby Aviation, in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The ambitious project marks a transformative step in the future of transport, integrating electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into Dubai’s urban infrastructure. The electric flying taxis are designed to provide swift, sustainable, and congestion-free travel across the city.

The service will initially launch as a premium offering, catering primarily to business travelers and high-end tourists. While the official fare structure is yet to be announced, the emphasis will be on comfort, time-efficiency, and exclusivity in the initial phase.

Dubai’s strategic partnership with Joby Aviation reflects its commitment to innovation and future-focused transportation solutions. The air taxis are expected to connect key urban hubs such as Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah, significantly cutting travel time and reducing reliance on road networks.

The rollout aligns with the emirate’s broader goals under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, positioning the city at the forefront of smart and sustainable mobility solutions.
