How to be productive working at home? Here are 6 useful tips.

Whether it is the outbreak of Covid-19 or because many have managed to find a remotely managed job, there are more people working from home than ever before. If you are new to the concept of remote working, these tips would definitely help you to be productive while maintaining the perfect work life balance.

Anyone who has to work remotely has to figure out when to work, where to work and how to maintain boundaries between work and personal life. This could be a difficult task, and we are here to help! Here are some tips to help you make working from your home productive.

1. Stick to your working hours.

Schedule your working hours and try to stick to it, following a schedule can help remote workers maintain a work life balance and give clear guidelines on when to work and what to work on.

Get time tracking apps that can help you be in line with your work. This could also help you work out what times of the day you are the most productive. This information can help you make reservations of your most attentive hours for the most important tasks.

2. Set ground rules with the people in your home.

Working when there are people in your house distracting you is not easy and may make your productivity suffer.

The simplest solution to this is to set some ground rules, tell your family or friends what they can do and what they can't do while you are working, for example tell them to turn down the television volume or not to enter the room you are working in.

3. Take breaks

Look up your company's policy on breaks and take them, if you are self employed give yourself enough time to walk away from the screen and unwind. A lunch hour and two 15 minute breaks seem to be sufficient in most cases.

4. Have a work space.

Try to work on a designated place. Do not work on the couch in front of the television. Find somewhere quiet where you can focus on the work at hand.

Working at the same place everyday can help you develop a routine, and that can certainly help keeping all your attention on your screen.

5. Eat healthy and get enough exercise.

Studies have proved that eating healthy and exercising has a direct link to your overall productivity.

Regular stretching can improve posture and makes sure that you do not feel sore. This could also improve your ability to pay attention.

Supplementing potatoe chips with a fruit bowl comes with a variety of benefits including increased levels of memory and concentration and improves the overall quality of life.

6. Get a comfortable work station.

Depending upon the space available in your house consider buying a desk, a comfortable office chair and a few shelves.

Buying desks and office chairs don't have to be expensive, stores like Ikea offers great deals on office furniture that could be easily set up in your house. While shopping keep in mind that you will be working in the office set up every day and plan accordingly.
