ZOWD Launches Brzat Qeraaa at Abu Dhabi International Airport

In efforts to promote reading in the UAE as part of the Emirati heritage, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, announced the launch of Brzat Qeraa'a Initiative at Abu Dhabi International Airport on April 26 in collaboration with Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), as part of their joint and ongoing efforts to promote the Year of Reading 2016.

With 2016 being the Year of reading, Brzat Qeraa'a is released as a promising initiative made to supply the general public with books to read during their waiting times. As part of the effort's efforts, ZOWD is placing 20 book stations at the Airport's most active gates, for passers-by to conveniently pick up a book to read while they wait. This launch introduces a series of deployments to be made in different other sectors in Abu Dhabi throughout the Year of reading in 2016.

Founded by H. H. Sheikh Alyazia bint Sultan Al Nahyan in 2012, ZOWD celebrates Emirati Heritage through reading practices, and intends to cultivate national interest to produce a reader's society that shares reading to even more the Emirati heritage and its rich culture while keeping in mind the traditions that make the UAE exactly what it is. With the ongoing assistance of numerous sectors and with this year being the Year of Reading, ZOWD intends to encourage the UAE public and nation visitors to help commemorate our varied cultures through reading.

H. H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation, revealed his gratitude for the partnership between ZOWD Cultural Establishment, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority with Abu Dhabi International Airport, to fulfill the initiative's mission. He even more praised the governmental bodies that support community-based services in the Emirate, and the overall universities in the Emirate that add to the efforts made by H. H. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation that constantly seek to provide services in cooperation with such institutions in the Emirate, and with the direction of the Supreme President of the Foundation of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Advisor to His Highness the Head of State, thanking Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority for their popular role in the success of the initiative, and extending a gratitude to Abu Dhabi International Airport for placing the effort's book stations at the most active gates permitting access to the biggest number of visitors to the capital.

Brzat Qeraa'a is united by ZOWD and the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA) partners with ZOWD in collaboration with Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) in joining their running effort, "Read to Lead," for the year of reading 2016.

Discussing the launch of this effort, H.E. Ali Majed Al Mansoori, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, stated: "Abu Dhabi Airports is proud that Abu Dhabi International Airport has actually been selected as the launch platform for the "Barzet Qera'a" effort by Sheikha Al Yaziya bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of Zood Cultural Foundation. Abu Dhabi Airports strives to support initiatives and events that has a positive and direct result on our community as part of our dedication to social responsibility. In addition, such tasks raise the traveler experience at Abu Dhabi International Airport, which stays our leading concern as the main gateway to the UAE.".

In support of the"Year of Reading" released by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Airports opened the very first library at Abu Dhabi International Airport, in the link between Terminals 1 and 3, as a proactive initiative within the airports' community in the area.

Abdulla Majed Al Ali, Director of Library Management, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: "Al Barza Reading Project is a considerable addition to raise our community's awareness about the 'Year of Reading 2016' initiative. The project will supply travellers by means of Abu Dhabi Airports with mini libraries and the opportunity to read and find new cultures while waiting.
