Addressing the workshops, His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, SCTDA, called upon the participants to play a proactive role in encouraging tourism growth in Sharjah.

We can work together as a team to create the right environment for tourism to flourish in Sharjah. Together we can attract more visitors by using all the available tools and capabilities. In this aspect, the logo of Sharjah Capital of Arab Tourism Award 2015 is one of the most important tools that embodies in its design the cultural heritage of Sharjah. It symbolizes the emirates new status as the Capital of Arab Tourism and as well as a modern city with a rich heritage, H.E. Al Midfa said.

During the workshop, the creative agency which designed the logo provided the participants detailed information about the concept behind the design. The participants were able to gain insights on the significance of each colour on the logo and how each element of the logo can be used among stakeholders to effectively raise awareness about the Award.

The purple colour on the Sharjah Capital of Arab Tourism Award 2015 logo shows that Sharjah is the cultural heart of the United Arab Emirates. The gold colour represents the authentic characteristics and rich business foundation of the emirate, while the pale blue colour stands for Leisure. The orange colour on the logo represents the vibrancy of the emirate. All the colours of the new logo are consistent with the colours of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

The logo also features architectural elements which are a tribute to the iconic buildings in Sharjah. The Al Midfa Wind Tower represents the only wind tower existing in the UAE. The Central Souk, also known as the Blue Souk due to the colour of its roof, is another focal point in the emirate.
