RTA launches revised strategic plan 2016-2020

The Supreme Committee for Strategic Planning, at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), headed by HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), approved RTA's modified strategic plan 2016-2020. The goals of the strategic plan have been revised in keeping with Dubai Government's drive, and RTA's values have also been revised, particularly, Corporate Reputation, Excellence & Success, Leadership & Teamwork, Happiness & Positive Energy, and Creativity & Innovation.

"RTA's modified strategic plan is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Executive Council and the instructions of HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council to render Dubai the smartest city worldwide. This idea depends on man as the essential of the neighborhood by offering distinctive and innovative services capable of bringing happiness to people. The updated strategic plan considered the results of the UAE nationwide program 2021, Dubai Emirate Plan 2021, and Dubai Self-driving Transport Strategy aimed at making 25% of all transportation journeys in Dubai self-driving by 2030," said Al Tayer.

"The strategic objectives have been divided into 3 primary themes namely, Community, Transportation Systems and Internal Efficiency. The Community theme consists of 3 goals. They are Smart Dubai, which aims to enhance communication, integration, and cooperation, manage information, improve & sustain solutions & smart government services, and figure out smart solutions for transport, roads and traffic. The second goal is Integrated Dubai, which aims to improve integration between transportation planning and urban planning, make roads & transportation systems friendly for all, and preserve national identity. The third goal is People Happiness, which aims at gaining the lead in bringing happiness to people, ensuring harmony & happiness with customers, and ensuring positive energy at work, continued Al Tayer.

"The second theme, which belongs to carry systems, consists of two strategic objectives: The first goal is guaranteeing Smooth Transport for all by encouraging public transit, improving and establishing sustainable roadways & transportation network, managing travel demand & blockage, and drafting efficient policies and legislations for transport and traffic. The 2nd objective is making sure Safety & Environmental Sustainability, that includes improving traffic security to decrease mishaps & deaths, promoting transport environmental sustainability, ensuring sustainability, occupational health & security and improving security sustainability," elaborated Al Tayer.

"The 3rd theme, which belongs to Internal Efficiency, consists of three tactical goals: Financial Sustainability, through which RTA looks for to establish and diversify revenues, foster partnership with the economic sector, and improve monetary effectiveness. The 2nd objective, which is Advance RTA, means to draw in, groom and protect talents, promote excellence and knowledge management, improve quality, operations and business governance, get the lead in innovation & creativity, and establish relationship with partners and suppliers. The 3rd objective is Assets Sustainability, by leveraging the effectiveness of asset management, achieving optimum assets performance, and making the most of assets value," concluded Al Tayer.
