RTA holds Reading Contest to broaden employees intellectual faculties

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has organized a reading contest to motivate employees to read helpful books and diffuse the culture of understanding. The action comes in line with the UAE effort devoting 2016 as a Year of Reading, besides promoting the "Reading Challenge" effort released by the Dubai Government.

Kawthar Kazim, Executive Director of Human Resources and Development, RTA's Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, said: "The Human Resources and Development Department had introduced this contest to motivate employees to read important books, and make run-through for distribution as a leaflet or annex, and winners would be offered a range of prizes. The contest also intends to highlight contributions made by means of the intranet to generalize the benefit. This would contribute substantially to creating favorable & competitive environment amongst employees to read different books, broaden their intellectual and improve their awareness, besides recognizing the leadership's vision of ensuring that institutions and entities are literate.".

"Reading establishes innovation and creative ideas that benefit readers and community members as it raises their awareness about the modern regional and international issues, acquaints them with discussion methods, sharing knowledge & info to develop a much better society.".

"RTA is really keen about releasing a range of efforts that add to motivating employees and community members to read. The efforts released up until now include the "Read More" and "Knowledge Chair," which is a circular wooden chair provided in numerous client service centers, and includes an outstanding plan of the latest editions in numerous disciplines. Another initiative is the Public Transportation Library in the Emirates and First Gulf Bank city stations, where metro users can borrow books and return them upon completion. The connection of such initiatives would contribute significantly making Dubai a pioneer and leader in knowledge," concluded Kawthar Kazim.
