Under the patronage of H.E. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, the Health Centers and Clinics sector - Sharjah Blood Transfusion & Research Center released the 'Motivational Text Messages for Blood Donors' effort to highlight the importance of blood donationin saving lives, raising morale, bringing happiness and pride, and developing sense of national responsibility and humanity.

Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry's Health & Prevention Assistant Sector - Health Centers and Clinics, said the first-of-its-kind initiative in the Middle East region intends to encourage community members to take part in blood contribution projects in accordance with the Ministry's goal to accomplish a sustainable health for all and build a society with comprehensive care and long life. The Ministry also aims to offer quality health services to the UAE community in accordance with global requirements.

H.E. added that the UAE is the World Health Organization's Middle East center for blood contribution initiatives and associated safe services, consisting of voluntary contribution. H.E. explained the Ministry will aim to ensure that adequate products of safe blood are readily available in the nation to fulfill the needs of all private and public health centers.

Mona Sulaiman Al Ali, Managing Director, Sharjah Blood Transfusion & Research Center, emphasized the importance of extending thankfulness to all blood donors and highlighting their function in altering lives for the better. Such a show of gratitude will encourage and inspire them to continuously contribute blood.

The Sharjah Blood Transfusion & Research Center had the ability to gather roughly 25,000 blood units in 2014, fulfilling the requirements of different state health centers. The center also has a high performance in conducting numerous tests to make sure that the contributed blood is free from contagious diseases.

The center also got worldwide accreditation from the Joint Commission International in September 2013 and the American Association of Blood Banks in August 2013. It also renewed its worldwide accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks in August 2015.
