Empower, the worlds largest district cooling services provider, today presented a copy of the District Cooling Guide to the Society of Engineers - UAE.

Empower provided technical and financial in the development of this manual, which was published by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, (ASHRAE). The manual is a comprehensive reference for the global district cooling industry.

District cooling is evolving into a sector with much growth potential. According to estimates by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the Emirates sole utilities provider, Dubai now supports up to 1.7 million Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) of district cooling capacity.

With the backing of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Vision 2021 has earmarked sustainable development as a key industry, giving the district cooling sector additional opportunities for growth, said Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer, Empower. And while the industry has huge potential and opportunities, it is also relatively niche discipline. Therefore, promoting knowledge is crucial to ensuring that the great minds of tomorrow understand the principles of district cooling, especially because this sector is connected to real- estate, construction, utilities and energy.
