Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and FANR organise awareness workshop on nuclear energy strategy

Dubai Supreme Council of Energy arranged a workshop to introduce the National programme to produce electricity using peaceful nuclear energy. The workshop, organised in partnership with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), promotes atomic energy and encouraged closer collaboration within the public sector for it.

The workshop was held at Conrad Hotel in Dubai. It was participated in by member organisations of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and authorities and experts from organisations, and companies working in energy and renewable resource in Dubai.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, emphasised the value of the workshop, arranged in cooperation with FANR, to raise awareness about serene atomic energy and its function in producing electrical power, and ensuring the readiness of relevant organisations.

"This workshop supports our efforts to accomplish the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to offer 7 % of Dubai's energy from clean sources by 2020, 25 % by 2030 and 75 % by 2050. The method includes five main pillars: infrastructure, legislation, funding, building capacities and skills, and an environmentally-friendly energy mix. This mix will include 25% from solar energy, and 7% from nuclear power, said Al Tayer.

At the start of the workshop, HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, invited the participants and commended the efforts FANR, particularly for establishing the nuclear energy programme to produce electricity, and its dedication to carrying out policies and protecting individuals and the environment.
