Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair have introduced a new Self Service Bag Drop center at Hong Kong International Airport that will further enhance the airport experience for travelers of the two airline companies.

Self Service Bag Drop permits travelers to check in baggage by themselves. Travelers who have finished their check-in process - online, at airport check-in counters or utilizing self-service check-in kiosks - can drop off their baggage using the Self Service Bag Drop center, conserving up to half of the regular processing time compared to queuing at check-in counters.

Starting 1 April, 5 Self Service Bag Drop devices commenced operation at Cathay Pacific counters located in Aisle C at Hong Kong International Airport, with another 4 machines at Dragonair counters in Aisle H. In the initial stage, the service is readily available on chosen routes from Hong Kong, consisting of Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore for Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers on Cathay Pacific, and Chiang Mai, Fukuoka, Kota Kinabalu, Okinawa, Penang and Phuket for Economy Class passengers on Dragonair. The airline companies will work closely with Airport Authority Hong Kong to broaden the Self Service Bag Drop service to more routes in stages.
