Atcuae Launches new Drive to Keep Safety top Priority in National Motor Sport

The Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, persistently planning for a double World Cup day in cross country rallying, is stepping up its initiatives to ensure safety remains a top concern in grassroots motor sport.

The ATCUAE, main rep in the Emirates of the FIA, motor sport's world regulating body, wants to work extra closely with the UAE's nationwide occasion organisers to tweak safety standards across the board.

As part of a transfer to enhance its functioning partnership with clubs, the ATCUAE is waving the license costs that are normally payable to itself as the nationwide motor sport authority for the signing up of individual occasions.

Authorizations are provided to the event hosts after they send detailed safety and medical strategies which are vetted by the ATCUAE.

These include nationwide circuit racing and karting events at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome, and rounds of the UAE Rally and Autocross Championships organized by the Sharjah-based Emirates Motorsport Club.

Costs are likewise being forgoed for events presented by the Emirates Motor Sports Federation, Dubai Motocross Club, and RAK Track.

Previously this month FIA Technical Delegate for Cross Nation Rallies, Lionel Carre, went to the UAE to function along with the ATCUAE in assisting rivals plan for the country's two World Cup occasions, with a key focus on security.

Taking place in the Al Qudra Desert from 9-11 March under the patronage of H.H.Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the occasion is the second round of this year's FIA World Cup for Cross Nation Rallies for automobiles and buggies and the opening round of the FIM Bajas World Cup for bikes and quads.

Based at the Bab Al Shams Desert Hotel & Day spa, it will be adhered to from 1-7 April by the Abu Dhabi Desert Difficulty, part of the FIA World Cup collection and the FIM Cross Nation Rallies World Champion.
